Turkey property investment is a growing sport. Turkey is undoubtedly one of the world's hottest emerging markets, but for some reason it seemed to slip under the radar of most British overseas property investors during the last boom.
That was before the dreaded credit crunch came along and used the Euro, the Dollar and other currencies to wipe the floor with the British pound. This made property in the Eurozone and America a lot more expensive, while leaving Turkish property the same; a lot less expensive.
But that isn't the most important thing that the plummeting pound did to increase Turkey property investment; it also accelerated the growth in British tourism to Turkey, which was already growing rapidly -- 20-25% per year for the last few years according to the Association of British Travel Agents.
A large percentage of those investing in overseas property, will do so in a country that they have enjoyed multiple holidays in, whether they intend to holiday in the property or not -- it is just one of those things. So by increasing British tourism to Turkey, the strong Euro has also led to Turkey property investment seeing significant growth in interest from Brits.
The biggest reason for investing in Turkish property is because of the massive tourism industry, and the massive past and potential for future growth. Turkey received over 28milliion tourists in 2008, and even when tourism around the world is falling, tourism to Turkey has enjoyed some significant growth this year. To be exact tourism to Turkey in the first 8 months of this year, was 1.1% higher than in the same period last year.
Most people considering an overseas property investment right now are mostly looking for properties with solid rental potential. The continued growth in tourism to Turkey, including developments that continue to make Turkey more and more of a year round destination, will continue to make Turkey property investment a more attractive prospect.
