The US economy has grown 5.7% in the fourth quarter, which is the fastest quarterly growth in 6 years. This, now the second consecutive quarterly growth and a clear sign that the economy is now likely past the worst of the worst recession since World War II.
A 39% growth in gross private investment is thought to have been the main driver of growth, although it is highly likely that returns from those investments were equally behind the growth.
Either way, such a massive economic growth is a massively positive sign of the future. If American GDP can continue to grow at such strong levels, then it can only be a matter of time before employers start hiring again.
Such economic growth will also likely further stimulate foreign demand in the distressed property sector. Economic recovery will lead to dwindling availability of such distressed sales, and will also start to bring back the value of those distressed properties already purchased. Both a key reason to buy sooner rather than later.
Already the growth has cancelled out recent gains made by Sterling against the dollar in recent days. In that respect the growth is also good news for Brazil, which has been struggling against China with its dollar-pegged yuen, a stronger dollar is thus good news.
Widening out it is also good news for most of Latin America. Most Latin American economies are either reliant on or predominantly fuelled by American exports and/or tourism, thus a recovery in America is a rebound in Latin America.
