• Paraia D’EL Rey: This 18-hole (par 72) 600 acres Championship Golf & Beach resort is one of the most famous ones in the entire Portugal. Completed in 1996 and located just 40 minutes drive from Lisbon airport, the resort also comprises a 3 kilometres long pristine beach. Its proximity to the Porto or Faro airports, besides the Lisbon airport means that the place is agog with visitors. Some of the top-notch facilities in the resort include a 5 star Marriott hotel, a Tennis centre, a football practice area that is regularly used by the ‘Benefica’ football team and the Portuguese national team, apart from the golf course with state-of-the-art practice facilities. The golf course played host to some of the prized competitions in the international calendar, like European Cup (1997, 1998 and 1999) and Rover Corporate Cup. The course record is in favour of Thomas Sundostrom for men (64) and Tania Elosegui Mayor for ladies (66). This golf resort also plays perfect resting place while you are visiting the nearby historic medieval town of Obidos, the large Obidos lagoon, and local towns, like the fishing port of Peniche, the surfing beach at Baleal and the wine region of Bomberral. Plans are afoot to develop at least 5 more golf resort around the Paraia E’EL Rey
• Royal Óbidos: The Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf resort spreads on a 336-acre site close to the medieval town of Óbidos. Designed by legendary Seve Ballesteros, this 18-hole golf course is in close vicinity to Paraia D’EL’ Rey. This golf course is relatively new and the planned developments include luxury apartments and villas. The apartments are proposed to comprise a mix of 2- and 3-bedrooms with communal pools and the villas are proposed to comprise 3- and 4-bedrooms with private pools. Besides, there will be ultra-modern facilities, like water features, courtyards, archways, cool piazzas, cycle paths, sculpture gardens and plenty of green areas. A five-star condominium hotel and spa with one-bedroom studio suites and two-bedroom lock-off apartments are also on the anvil.
• Atlântico: The Atlântico Golf Course is situated amidst the beautiful serene environs of Peniche. This 9-hole (72 par) was founded in 1996. Its architect Mateus Marteleira has worked really hard to produce this picturesque golf course over 4839 m. The facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Pro-Shop, Tennis, Swimming pool, Restaurant and Bar, and Hotel.
• Golden Eagle: The Golden Eagle Golf Course is 18-hole (par 72) course situated at Rio Maior. With a course record of 65, this golf course is spread along a vast area of 5597 m. Completed in 1994 and designed by Rocky Roquemore, the Golden Eagle has world class facilities, like Pro-Shop, Driving Range, Putting Green, Restaurant, and Bar.
• Vimeiro: The Vimeiro Golf Course is another small but gorgeous course set in the green environs of Praia de Porto Novo. It’s a very old golf course and has a course-length of 2350 m. Designed by Frank Pennink and completed in 1963, Vimeiro is a 9-hole (par 67) golf course with the best of the facilities. Some of those include Tennis Court, 2 swimming pools, Horse riding, games room, Restaurant, and Bar.

Undoubtedly, the Silver Coast of Portugal has some of the best golfing facilities in the country. And if you count the proposed facilities in the long list of already established ones, you’ll feel pampered. If the projections for Portugal Property investment are anything to go by, the golfing properties in Silver Coast are expected to drive major investments from the overseas Brit investors.
